CS-Con — the Civil Society Conference — is a continental convening platform conceived as a direct response to rising grant dependency and civic erosion across Cameroon and Africa.
Too often, civil society organizations (CSOs) are reduced to passive project implementers — technically competent, but oriented toward donor logframes rather than the communities they serve. CS-Con repositions civil society as a strategic, autonomous actor for peace, justice, accountability, and human development.
"When participation is measured by attendance, impact by indicators, ownership by branding, and sustainability by whether the next grant comes through — are we still doing development for the people, with the people — or have we built a system in which the people have quietly become the means through which development gets delivered?"
Before there was a logframe, there was a community. Communities are not empty spaces waiting for intervention — they are repositories of knowledge, agency, and solutions.
Localization is not just routing funding lines — it is a question of power: who decides, who defines, who owns, and who benefits once a project ends.

Founded on 8 November 2025 in Buea, CS-Con25 tested a single-day proof of concept under the theme "Humanitarian and Development Work as Catalysts for Peace and Development", drawing 40+ organization applications across Cameroon, South Africa, and Zambia.
CS-Con26 delivers on the commitment to expand into a two-day continental platform — featuring 25 curated African leaders, four keynotes, two panels, and an Africa-tested Solutions Fair.
